PE and sport premium for primary schools

Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport you offer.

This means that you should use the premium to:

  • develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers

  • build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

There are 5 key indicators that schools should expect to see improvement across:

  • the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school

  • the profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement

  • increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport

  • broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils

  • increased participation in competitive sport

How do we manage our Pe

PPA solutions is exactly that, a solution for each school to provide members of staff the time needed to plan and prepare in other key areas of the national curriculum.

Advanced Sports Ltd work in partnership with each primary school, developing each year group within PE against national curriculum guidelines. During this time specialised coaches plan, teach and assess the children, recording individual and group progress and giving continuous feedback and guidance for improvement.

We offer PE to schools at any time during the day to suit the schools needs.

  • Morning PPA cover

  • Afternoon PPA cover

  • Full day PPA cover

In pursuit of providing each school with an outstanding service, Advanced Sports Ltd has a dedicated PPA Manager. Their job is to provide support and guidance throughout the whole process, from initial meetings and contract negotiations, to the overall delivery and evaluation of the programme.

Teacher upskilling and training

Alongside the delivery of our PE lessons, we also offer the teachers the opportunity to sit in and take part in our our sessions. Many teachers do not enjoy delivering PE, for the simple fact that they have not had enough training in the subject.

Teachers can learn a range of skills and games from our experienced coaches and educators, that they can transfer to their own teaching of PE. All session plans are given to the school each term, and the school can keep these until they are no longer needed. The plans are easy to follow, and therefore teachers are able to use and adapt these plans.

Alternatively, Advanced Sports Ltd deliver qualifications to train teachers further in PE. These courses usually take place one day a week, over the academic year, based at our training centre in Thame. For more information on these qualifications please click here.
